Chief of Party, Mekong for the Future (USAID), WWF Greater Mekong

**WWF, the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Chief of Party (CoP) for the USAID-funded Mekong for the Future project activity to be based with WWF Greater Mekong in Bangkok, Thailand.

Mekong for the Future is a 3 year project starting in October 2020 that will support natural resources governance and transparency across the Greater Mekong through strengthening civil society's ability to engage in natural resource governance and improving their access to, and understanding of, environmental data from public and private sources. The project will strengthen the ability of civil society organizations in the region to coordinate their activities, improve their ability to advocate for and monitor environmental policies, and increase transparency and improve their use of environmental data.

Major Duties and Responsibilities of the Chief of Party:

  1. Assume technical leadership and administrative oversight of the program; contributing technical guidance and vision the Mekong for the Future Project activity

  2. Offering technical input to institutional partners (where appropriate)

  3. Directs the project’s core team of staff and partners responsible for planning, coordination, design and delivery of all project activities

  4. Represents the project to USAID, partners, and governments and ensures the project is well coordinated with relevant governmental departments and other related USAID/other donor projects.

  5. Establish and maintain good working relationships with project participants, project stakeholders, beneficiaries and other relevant organizations in the region including government partners and USAID personnel.

  6. Apply a participatory, adaptive management approach to ensure the project is efficient, effective, and achieves planned results.

  7. With support from WWF US HQ and WWF Greater Mekong, ensures that the project is implemented in compliance with donor policies and regulations, including sub grants and subcontracts.

  8. Ensure that all activities relating to the project are completed.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. A minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in managing international development programs or projects of similar scope and scale to Mekong for the Future.

  2. Knowledge of USAID policies and procedures as related to program management is required.

  3. At least a Master’s-level degree in social sciences, natural resources management, forestry, environmental or conservation management, bioregional planning, development studies, or related field of study.

  4. Experience in the Greater Mekong/South East Asia is preferred.

  5. Demonstrated capabilities in high-level strategic visioning and leadership, and experience in working effectively with local and national-level government authorities and with USAID or other development partners.

  6. Proven exceptional leadership in the design, management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of large-scale international donor-supported programs, with skills in strategic planning, management, supervision, and budgeting.

  7. Strong communication skills, fluency in written and verbal English. Another Asian language would be an advantage.

  8. Proven ability to develop and communicate a common vision among diverse partners, and the ability to lead multi-sector and multi-disciplinary teams.

  9. Demonstrated effectiveness leading and managing teams that are able to adapt to dynamic operating conditions to achieve project results

  • Contract duration: 3 year fixed term contract with possible extension
